Check what's left on it, then use it, give it to someone who will, or sell it. If you sell it, you get less than the face value, but money you can actually use instead of credit you won't. We pay in crypto and show the payout before you sign up.
Unused gift cards are more common than you'd think: a present for a shop you don't visit, a refund put onto a card, a card for the wrong country. Here's what you can do with one.
1. Check what you have
- The brand and country. Printed on the card or named in the email. Many cards only work in one country.
- The value. On the card, the receipt or the email.
- Whether it's still unused. Nobody should have added it to an account yet.
- The terms. Some cards expire or lose value after a while, depending on the brand and the country.
2. Use it, or let someone else use it
Many gift cards also work online, so a shop that isn't near you may still be usable. If it isn't for you, a friend or family member might want it and pay you back. Some charities accept gift cards as donations too.
3. Sell it
Selling turns the card into money you can use anywhere. Buyers pay less than the face value, so compare offers and look at what you get, not just the rate.

Questions
Do gift cards expire?
It depends on the brand and the country. Many don't, but check the terms printed on the card or on the issuer's website.
Can I swap a gift card for one from a different shop?
Usually not with the shop itself. The common way is to sell the card you don't need and buy the one you want.
Can I get cash back for a small leftover balance?
In some places shops have to pay out small remaining balances when you ask. The rules depend on where you live, so ask at the till.
Can I sell my unused gift card here?
If it's one of the brands we buy, yes: you see the payout before you sign up, and the rate is locked when you submit the code.
