A code is rejected when the issuer says it can't be redeemed: it was already used, it belongs to another region, it was mistyped, it's locked, or it's worth less than you entered. A rejected card costs you nothing, and you see the reason in your order.
We check every code with the company that issued it before anything is credited. Most rejections have one of a handful of causes, and almost all of them can be avoided before you submit. Here's what each one means.
The reasons, and how to avoid them
- Already redeemed. Someone added the code to an account, sometimes the person who gave it to you, sometimes a redeem button in the gift email. Sell codes that have never been added anywhere.
- Wrong region. A card for one country was picked under another. Check the country on the card, the receipt or the email before you choose it.
- Mistyped. A 0 for an O, a 1 for an I. Copy and paste the code where you can; the sell form flags look-alike characters and formats that don't fit as you type.
- Locked by the issuer. Cards bought with stolen payment details, or reported as part of a scam, are often blocked. They can't be credited.
- Worth less than entered. The card was partly used, or a different value was picked. Choose the value printed on the card.
- Never activated. Physical cards are activated at the till when they're paid for. A card that was never activated has no value.
What happens after a rejection
The card isn't credited and you're not charged. The order shows which card was rejected and why. If an order has several cards, the valid ones are still credited at the locked rate.
Before you submit
- 1Check the regionIt's printed on the card or named in the email or on the receipt.
- 2Copy, don't typePaste the code from the email or app. For a physical card, take a sharp photo of the code.
- 3Sell soonThe longer a code sits in an inbox or a drawer, the more chances someone else has to use it.
- 4Keep it to yourselfDon't post the code, don't send it to anyone, don't submit it anywhere else.
Questions
Do I pay anything for a rejected card?
No. Nothing is credited and nothing is charged. You see the reason in your order.
Can I submit a rejected code again?
Not as it is. If you think the rejection was wrong, for example because you picked the wrong region, open a support ticket from the order and we'll look at it.
Why is my account under review?
Two rejected cards within seven days put an account under review: you can keep one order open at a time and payouts are checked by hand. Four rejected cards within seven days freeze the account until we've finished our check.
Do you keep or use rejected codes?
No. A rejected code isn't redeemed by us. Codes are deleted 30 days after the order is done.
